Au printemps 2020, Wouter van der Veen, directeur scientifique de l’Institut Van Gogh observe une carte postale de 1912. Il réalise avoir découvert ce qui est recherché depuis plus de 130 ans : le lieu qui a inspiré le dernier tableau de Van Gogh : “Racines”.
En 2021, c’est une photo datée de 1907 qui va permettre au Musée Van Gogh d’Amsterdam de valider totalement la découverte. Les repères 1, 2 et 3 vous permettent de faire un rapprochement entre le tableau de Van Gogh et les éléments toujours en place aujourd’hui.
